Business Analyst (Interim/Fix Term)

Title: Business Analyst (Contract/Interim End March 2019)

Based at: Cardiff / Newport

Who are we? The next wave of emerging technologies will have an enormous impact on our lives. 5G communications will enable a host of new and exciting applications such as connected autonomous vehicles and multimedia services. Increasing demand for clean energy will require new electricity networks, while advanced sensing will open-up new opportunities for health diagnostics and security. These developments will be underpinned by Compound Semiconductor (CS) technologies.

Through employing leading minds and investing in technology, we help bridge the gap between idea and implementation by removing the barriers often faced by SMEs. 

We are small but growing rapidly and we are looking for a Business Analyst to join our team until the end of March 2019 to help deliver a customised Dynamics 365 solution. This role will play a key part in understanding the internal and external business requirements and in translating those requirements into specification for the development team.

Main duties and responsibilities:  

  • Take ownership of gathering and articulating user, business and technical requirements to ensure there is a clear understanding of the “what” and  the “why”.
  • Support and advise on the identification of options within business areas by thorough examination of the “as is” in order to best shape the “to be”.
  • Acquire good knowledge of existing business processes and systems, documenting process models and task analysis, to identify requirements for CRM development.
  • Identify areas for potential process improvement .
  • Work with the Dynamics 365 CRM Project Manager and Head ot IT to ensure requirements delivered and signed off as set of User Stories for all parties to agree.
  • Supports projects to ensure a consistently high standard in line with the company's image and strategic objectives 

Qualifications and Experience 

  • Business Analysis (e.g. IIBA, BCS) 
  • Experience of working on CRM projects specifically Dynamics 365.
  • Experience of creating requirements for the following Dynamics processes is required, Sales, Project Automation Services, Marketing.
  • Excellent understanding and 3 years minimum experience of CRM 2015/Dynamics 365 (E).
  • Demonstrable evidence of business and data analysis tools and techniques including requirements gathering, analysis and design, process mapping. (E)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an attention to detail; the ability to “get the message across” relating to the purpose and the audience. 
  • Attention to process, detail, documentation and outcomes. 
  • A focused approach, with the ability to meet tight deadlines (E)
  • Experience of working with multi-disciplinary teams and differing specialisms. 
  • Excellent working knowledge of MS Office and MS Project 

Desirable, not essential 

  • Demonstrable evidence of Project Management knowledge (e.g. APM PMQ, PMI, PRINCE2, AGILE, SCRUM) would be an advantage.
  • Experience of working on government and / or EU funded projects. 
  • Experience of working in a ‘new start’ organisation may be helpful as some of the internal processes are still to be defined and you may have to fill in the blanks.
